10 Things You Need For A Successful Dance Season!

The new dance season is here! As a dance shop that services almost every studio in the DC Metro area, we know what the most popular products are across the board for starting a new dance season.

Keep reading to find out what they are!

Before you buy anything, make sure you check your studio’s uniform!

Every studio has a uniform. Some studio’s are more relaxed than others. Make sure you check your studio’s uniform before buying anything to make sure you’re getting the correct supplies for your specific studio!

Shoes:

You won’t get very far without shoes! Make sure you get the correct shoes for the style of dance you’re doing and check your studio’s uniform list to see if they require a specific style and color!

Leotards:

If you don’t have a specific uniform leotard, black leotards are a safe option for every style of dance that requires a leotard. For styles other than ballet, colored leotards or leotards with a fun print are a great choice too! If you dance multiple days a week, we recommend getting a few different leotards so you always have a clean one available.

Tights:

If your uniform requires tights (some jazz and tap classes don’t require them), ballet pink for ballet and skin tone for other styles is always a safe bet! If your studio specifies a color for tights, we recommend stocking up on that! You can never have too many tights!

Hair Supplies:

Stock up on plenty of hair ties, hair nets, hair pins, and bobby pins! This stuff goes missing so quickly…make sure you have enough!

Warm Up Booties:

In our area, everyone LOVES the Bloch warm-up booties. These are great for wearing to and from class, backstage at Nutcracker or recital, at competitions between dances, everyone has them. (Not literally everyone, but you know what we mean.) Also, they do help keep your feet warm, so if you have a break between classes, throw them on so your feet stay warmed up!

“Trash Bag” Pants:

Again, especially for ballet, this is one of those items that everyone has. We love the Bloch Rip Stop pants! They come in so many pretty colors! These pants do serve a purpose too…they trap heat in so if you’ve got a break between classes, they’ll help keep your muscles warm.

Dance Bag:

There’s no better feeling than starting the new dance season with a fresh, clean dance bag! For older dancers, the Gaynor Minden Studio Bag and the Gaynor Minden Essential Bag are perfect! They’re not too bulky but they can hold A LOT.

For younger dancers, any of the fun colorful duffels and backpacks are a great choice!

Massage Balls:

This is an item for more advanced dancers, but it’s always a good idea to keep a massage ball in your backpack for foot cramps! (Unless your studio is like my old studio that had ballet barres made out of metal pipes so I’d use the base of the barre to massage my feet…a ball probably would’ve worked better though…)

Large Water Bottle:

You definitely want to take enough water to class! We LOVE these 40oz bottles that you can customize with your name, a picture, whatever you’re feeling.

Shoe Deodorizers:

Don’t be that dancer who opens their dance bag and clears out the dressing room! Get some shoe deodorizers for your sweaty shoes! They soak up the sweat and eliminate odors to keep your dance bag smelling fresh at all time! We love the Gaynor Minden Fresh Pointes and the Bunheads Deodorizing Pouches.

We hope this helps you prepare for the new dance season! Let us know what your must have items are in the comments!
